How's is everyone's hunting going. Are you seeing average deer populations or below average. The reason I ask, is that I have been hunting in the last week in two different zones and seeing brutal deer numbers. One area I hunted last year frequenty had been seeing 40+ whitetail deer a day. This year I'am lucky to see 10. Seeing does with no bucks around, not even small ones. In Regina zone it is a 4 deer whitetail zone. From what I have seen, that is ridiculous. I don't know if it is just me, the weather or what. I know lots of guy's are seeing deer far south, but thats all I'am hearing. It's going to be tough getting the wife a buck this year.

no big deer in our area. Mostly does and fawns and not much for bucks at all.

Ya these 4 deer zones are absolutly insane... Some of this so called gov management make NO sense to me... This year it will be these 4 deer zones, next year back to 1 (Hopefully)... NO management at all... It's like Kill em' all then, oops there is none left, so we have to cut back... Like the moose.. Kill them all, then none left.. i will hang my southern moose tag it took 11 years for me to get drawn for, could not come to shooting the few young bulls I could have the last few days of season... NOW, the moose season will likely be closed for a few years... why not take just a few each year, rather than what they are doing with our wildlife herds? The mule deer and whitetails are the same... what if we have a brutal winter or late greenup?? won't be good in most area's... Unreal...

I also hunted 2 zone for the first 3 days of the season and we hunted hard from sun up till sun down seeing very few deer compared to years before when we would typically see over a 100 deer, this year maybe 20 to 30?
I know the weather hasn't helped but it looks like the population is down and your right about Regina zone I'm seeing allot less deer this year than the last couple years.
Thanks to the Government of Saskatchewan and this years quotas it be allot less next year.

The zone I hunted in for whitetails this year is a 4 deer zone as well. I think I saw more bucks than does. If people shoot the three does like they can there will not be many whitetails left. I hunted zone 9 for mule deer and saw lots of deer. There were many does and lots of bucks but large bucks were less than past years. There were lots of mature bucks that were only 3X4's or 4X4's with small crab claw fronts.

There hasn't been alot of deer movement in west central, but I think that will change when the mercury drops ..

Where I hunt I usually see tons of deer but the weather is playing a big part the buck we shot was so full of fat I could not believe it also we seen gofers out, farmers bailing and combining and I have never seen that in rifle season.

If we get 4 inches of snow it's going to be a whole new ball game.

I hunt the west side of zone 22 only! went Sunday am till noon. seen 2 small muleys, and 1 small whitetail. Seen several trucks "racing" through the fields. Sat on a hill with my spotting scope and literally heard 20-30-40 shots??? Mental note to myself..."NEVER AGAIN" I was totally disgusted in the hunting community! It was terrible. New ford trucks...following new dodges etc etc. shooting at everything they seen. Never wil I do opening day again! Sunday or not!:thumbs_do

the amount of deer we seen on sunday wasn't great main reason weather!!! they are there just aint moving much as they don't need to work for food. Trucks on the other hand absolutly retarded lazy f#$%ing hunters driving roads waiting for someone to PUSH something to them..... Not again i will stay home and take a day off work instead.

P.S can guys not shoot any more??? it sounded like WWIII on sunday but sure didn't see any horns sticking out of any truck boxes

i live and hunt in zone 43 and the area i hunt in is a quarter that we farm and in the past on a average day i'd see 10 20 deer this last year and this year seen very few, some days none, however the area i guide in has a very healthy deer population as our hunters were seeing lots,
definately not a fan of this 4 deer zone bs

I hunt in 34. And just a small portion of it and numbers seem low. Didn't see much cruising this morning (I know get out of the truck). Did lots of walking and went to a bush I knew where deer were and there were some deer an moose. Another had a few. But still not the numbers we are use to. Our own land is completely deerless I have been told. I'll likely scope the situatuion out tomorrow. If that is the case that is scary.

I agree prairie dog ,I hunt zones 33,34 and this is the lowest deer pop. i have ever seen. due to many reasons mostly the big bucks contests that are ran in this area. there are lots of deer laying around shot and left and some
shot with heads cut off go figure... deer are also being shot and left for coyote bait thanks to the coyote bounty that we did not need in these zones we dont have a COYOTE problem here at all..... there are quite a few coyotes but they are not a problem..... just my 2 cents worth....

big buck contests? I don't like the sounds of that. And your right about coyotes, I see them, but I wouldn't call them a problem either.
