decent camera That will last a few years

Finding one that lasts a few years may be the tough part, at least it is for our family. I think we are on our fourth in the last four years.

We've had two Sonys and two Canons, the Sony DSC170 we have now is the best of the four but there's way better ones out there.

My advice would be to get the best camera you can afford, after all you are recording the most important moments in your life. Right? If you've ever looked at the quality of your parent's or grandparent's 110 or polaroid pictures from the 70's I'll bet they wished they spent an extra few bucks and had bought a 35mm.

With the bad luck we've had, I'd really look at purchasing the extended warranty if you are going to take your camera hunting and fishing. We are really careful with ours but I have to think the inevitable cold, dust, sand, jarring, and moisture the cameras are exposed to are really hard on them

I recently bought a Canon Powershot sx200is on the recommendation of semi professional photographer .He carries it as a back up for his SLRs.Ibought it for its 12x optical zoom and for getting shots while hunting .I have zoomed up my hunting partners at 125 yds to see 1/2their body and zoomed up curlers at the far end of the curling rink.
Lots of advanced feature I havent used yet .They run about $350./I had a liitle trouble locating as several camera outlets didnt carry .Go to Canons website and you can get a full overview .Good luck

I have bought the Canon power shots....mine is 12x optical zoom...

I found they give good pics and videos....I use both. However....what they are not good for is low light shots or low lite shots at long distances....this is on auto....

Can't go wrong with Canon. HAd mine for 4yrs now....carried on the quad...and such.

I've had 2 Canon PhotoShot digital camera's now and I lOVE em! My first one was stolen. I don't know that I'd buy anything else. My video camera however is a Sony that I bought about 2 yrs. ago and I will have that for years to come, it has great video quality.

I have a HP photosmart R725 6.2 mp and its a great little camera. It takes great pics and is nearly indestructable. Its with me all year long through the heat, cold, rain, snow, dirt, dust, mud, and sand. I'm not careful with it at all it just bounces along in my backpack wherever I take it and keeps on ticking. Though it did quit working for about 3 months once but started right back up again and has been going strong ever since. It must be at least 4 years old by now.:D
