Hi guys and gals:
I hunt a creek bottom bordered by farmer fields and such. The fields were Canary seed, Lentils and grain.

I am set up off a trail in the back of a farmers yard on the edge of the creek 20 yds from a trail. I have a bait pile of oats, molasses and a Record rack feed block.

The problem...I cannot get the deer to feed there consistently or make it a part of their dailey ritual. I think its cause of the many natural sources...and its frustrating right now...

Is there anything I can do? I have lots of picks the bait is off a MAJOR trail and intersecting trails...there is realy NO bush just creek grasses and such...and the deer popluation is massive, on any given night I see 50-75 deer and now am seeing the bucks again like last year...

Again is there anything I can do?

Thanks for reading and commenting? what are your farm land deer baiting secrets...?

Be patient, as the temperature dives down and we get closer to the rut they will seek out the easy-feed sources. Also within about 3 weeks you can start putting out a few doe estrus wicks out near the feed to attract frequent visits from the dominant bucks.

My theory is that the safe food sources are efficient now but when the buck is hot and the weather is cold and chasin females 24-7 they will find your oats.

Peas work far better for me than any other grains.

deer will eat almost any grain you put on the ground !!!!!! But if you can find some CANOLA is the best by far!!!! Followed by peas ,fall rye, oats, barley, and yes they even love good old wheat!!!!! What I do is take a bit of each put it in a cement mixer and start mixing then you pour in a bit of liquid cattle molassis and let mix for ten or fifteen mins!!!! that is my deer crack!!!! And also if you are using strait peas spread them around instead of in just one pile cause the deer will spent the time there to pick op every last pea which means lots of milling around and time spent at your bait!!!!

We use peas and oats mainly, apples, crab apples, carrots and beets when we can.

We supply them with Buck Booster (http://www.finessefishing.com/Home_files/buckboosterinfo.html) mineral beds and as an attractant we use C'mere Deer (http://www.cmeredeer.com/), I like 3 Day Harvest and Buck Juice!

I know it sounds like an advertisement, but that's what I use....

....and it does work!

I have a bait pile infront of my camera and gettin lots of Doe shots, I have seen the bucks in person from 300 yds but not at my camera...the 2nd pile is 40 yds from the blind in the field.

Both piles are oats, molasses and monster mix the camera sight has the record rack feed block...we will see as the temps begin to drop...

Oh yeah I have added a Buck dominator decoy to the sight...anyone have any success using one? or just have actual experience?
