What do you think about this Camera. 40x Optical Zoom at a decent price?
"The precision-crafted Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® lens, combined with the DCR-HC36 MiniDV Handycam camcorder’s 40x Optical Zoom, lets you get as close as you need to be to capture stunning digital video. Record more of your moments thanks to the STAMINA™ Battery Power System, providing up to 14 hours of recording and playback with the optional battery pack.
The lightweight, ergonomically-designed camcorder is compact and comfortable enough to bring with you anywhere while still supplying incredible features to capture perfect, true-to-life memories. Sony’s Super SteadyShot® Image Stabilization System reduces image blur caused by hand shake during shooting, while the NightShot™ plus infrared reproduces clear, colourful images in low-light environments. With other convenient features such as the 2.5” Touch Panel LCD and Easy Handycam Button, the DCR-HC38 MiniDV Handycam is the worry-free way to capture stunning digital video."

Hey! That's a good set up. Now, since that is SONY, let me tell you what they have, that You're gonna love! I have the tripod camera stand that has all the controls - get this- on the handle! on/off zoom in/out picture button. It is the best thing I have to help me video outdoors. Cost @ $100 but way, way, worth it. Once you use it, you'll never use a regular tripod ever again without major frustration.
