If you need to catch up, here you go

Day 2: http://www.menoutdoors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5202
Today (5-9-07) we were on Lake Erie, with Buffalo NY in the backdrop. On camera today was Larry Ladowski, a Midwest Outdoors staffer, our guide Terry Jones of First Class Bass Charters, and special guest Ray Sedgwick, who was using the opportunity to pre-fish for a tournament in July. Ray is part of the Bassmaster Elite series, meaning he's one of the top 100 Bass fishermen in the country. We started the day pulling live bait with a modified Wolf River rig in about 30 ft of water. Ray was loving it, he hasn't had such a relaxed day of fishing in ages.

Meanwhile, Larry enjoys the morning of no wind and glass-like water.

Well, get to it boys. I've got a show to film, and the smallies are just waiting for you to get your act together. And boy, did they get their act together. Here's the first double of many of the day.

Nothing like a matching pair of 17's to get the excitement going. Just like that, we got busy. The fish were coming in on the live bait just frequently enough to keep the guys interested, but nothing too hot and heavy (yet).

That beaut is a 29" 9lb that was hanging out with those smallies. By this time, I've got a show in the can, and everything else was gravy. So I pick me up a rod, and join in on the fun.

hmmmm....16". I can do better than that. (You can see Larry in the background auditioning to be a cameraman).

18". A tie for the personal best record I set yesterday. I should call it good and quit while I'm ahead....but I got to try for one more....

That's how we do it, FishPimpin' style. 21", 6lb 1oz and SHATTERING my record set the day before.
But where's Ray you ask? No worries, he caught plenty of fish, but he was a lil camera shy. But, I got him to loosen up a lil later in the day.

These two fish came at the wildest time. I had just been left on the wall behind Ray to film some out-of-boat action, an on both Ray's and Larry's first cast, they hook up, using tubes. You're looking at a 22 and a 19, but I'm not sure who caught which (Larry snapped the pic). Then, Larry hooks into a behemoth. I'm on shore, with about 40 seconds of tape left, and I hear "this isn't a smallie boys. This DEFINATELY is not a smallie." Well, our guide knows what he's doing. He evaluates the situation, gets the boat over to where I can get on WHILE keeping it oriented so Larry can fight the fish. I get onboard, reload tape, and stare in awe as Larry brings this guy in on 8 lb MONO!

Wow, this day is getting better and better. The best was yet to come, but I unfortunately don't have pics, only vid (which I can't show here for obvious reasons). But here's what happens. After congratulating Larry on that 46" musky on light tackle, we get to talking...'You know, we only need a couple rap's, and open and a close, MAYBE one or two more fish, and we'll have another segment done.' Terry says, 'Well I can give you the fish. Let's do it!'
We motor about 2 minutes away, and he sets us on a point of a different breakwall. Swear to God, for about 15 minutes, I never once stopped rolling tape. Standing with Ray on my left, Larry on the right, I would film one unhooking fish, while the other set the hook. It was incredible. I wanted to take pics, but there was just no time! We knocked out a whole segment in 30 minutes, and with all the other footage from the previous segment and the 'gravy' inbetween, it's going to make for some incredible TV. I'll keep you posted when they air.
Stay tuned for Day 4, when Larry and I go fishing for Steelhead on the lower Niagra river!
Till then, Tight Lines!
