'Hooked up with Hocky for some early morning action. I started off with a bang hooking and LOSING!! three nice smallies. I found the the smallies hitting aggressively on soft plastic crawfish imitators.
Soon we got into the largemouth.

They say fish relate to structure. This lake lacks structure in most places, but when we found a bunch of downed timber, man were the fish relating! We saw 15-20 big bass all piled up in a school. I tried my crawfish, but the lazy bums were not interested at all. I quickly thought of what might get their attention and I guessed Paddlebugs. Good choice! I quickly caught 2 largemouth on the bugs. To my left, the Hockmeister was using Yum Dingers and was starting to annoy me with his repeated yelling of "Fish On!" :)
One of my bass got stuck in the timber and I had to go wading to get him free. As I was standing in the lake struggling with him one of the weirdest sights happenned. Five large bass came and circled around me like the numbers on the dial of a clock. They curiously sat five feet away from me checking out what was going on. It was cool!
My first-ever fish on a Senko

It was a good morning, but we still had to work for the fish that were caught.
I saw one of the coolest things ever. A bright blue dragonfly was flying past me about 6" above the water. A friskly little bass shot up out of nowhere and grabbed the dragonfly and took it back down with him.
We wanted to explore a little more, but the boat traffic kind of kept us limited to a couple spots. Spinners and crankbaits just were not working at all today. The crawfish imitators, Dingers, Paddlebugs and Senkos were the hot lures this time. :thumbs_up
