i built a ground blind for rifle season, it was a 4 by 6 ( might go wider for bow) it was studded walls sheated with 3/4 inch plywood 3 10 x 14 inch windows that were plexi glass on hinges so they could be easily flipped open. I had rests at each window with glued down soft styrofoam so you wouldn't make a noise with your rifle, there was also a floor not just dirt. I lined the inside with soft carpet so movement didn't make alot of noise. The roof was slanted a bit to the rear. if hunting over bait I would fasten a string from the roof down so on nice days you could have your rifle out and ready with the string around your scope to hold it in position.

don't know if this will help but i liked it.

If you want to build from scratch the possibilities are endless. Depending on how big you want it, you could look at shed or small garage packages. I remember seeing some camo tin posted last year here as well(don't remember who posted it  ) you could use to enclose it:shade: .

I mostly used scrap material for this one, only 5 foot square but fits an office chair nicely.

You could also look at moving an existing structure and adapting or finishing it to your needs.

There are alot of options :D !

This is stand you might want to look at.
It is 5ft X 6ft. The windows are fool width plexi glass opening to inside on piano hinge oiled so they don't squeak.
Window sill is high enough to be used as rifle rest.
It is standing on four car rims to keep legs of the ground.
Inside is a regulation size swivel office chair.
It is big enough inside to bring in pack sack, tent heater etc.
With tent heather inside it is warm enough to bring young person with you (don't forget junk food for your young partner).
It is build with comfort in mind.
Oh did I mention it is insulated.

Ah! Your wanting a blind. We use them alot here in Texas. For comfort and the ability to hold two shooters or a camera man and shooter, the size is 4x8x6. (Single person blind is 4x4x6.)This also allows you to lay on the floor for a little nap at times. The windows are made with plexaglass. You can cut that with a jig saw to size. Make it in two pieces and add a slider rail to it top and bottom, or a single piece with spring loaded hinges so it can be pushed open or some use plywood and run a string to the bottom of the window and drill a hole over the window and thread the string back inside. Tie a washer to the end of the string and have a nail or screw to hook it on. For insullation, we use carpet on the walls and floors, and even some insullation board (sheathing) under that if you want to go to that expense. Trim the windows with wood (frame out) and cover with carpet so that when you put a gun on it, it's quiet. The windows should open out. The size depends on if it's a rifle blind or a bow blind. Don't forget to add some shelves to the interior to set stuff like binos, drinks, etc.
Before you cut the windows, get the chair ( I like office chairs with wheels and can spin) and sit in the blind to get your height. A window too high or too low is bad! Keep in mind the elevation of the blind when measuring for windows. It should be about mid chest at the bottom of the window when seated. It only needs to be @ 12 inches tall. We also add curtains for the plexaglass windows to help keep the interior dark. Gunny sack material with a wire strung through it and attached on each side with screws or nails is cheap and works great. Cut the material in the middle so you can open just a small crack to see out when you need to. We use plywood for the walls and roof.
We are experimenting with 4 inch thick styrofoam walls for blinds right now, coated with a light weight stucco material.
If you would like more specific info, just IM me or send an e-mail and I'll get you the info you want.

This blind is 7x7 feet, insulated fibreglass, It has a vented propane heater, , so no need about gases or fogging up windows, also thermostat controlled. The windows slid open. It has a table, bench that folds to a bed and a rug floor and mouse proof and TV, yes a tv LOL.:D The blind is very sound proof. Deer walk up when I have a cd on :o but i still try to be quiet:zip:

The TV. It has a wireless cam watching an area I cant see :shade: I get to see aot of game walk by that area. The blind operates on solar power with 12vdc batteries and an invertor. Even has a light bulb in case one needs to see inside LOL

There is a deer on the tv screen LOL

I did my share of roughing it and now since Iam older and wiser, as the saying goes, I hi tech hunt:D

The hardest thing is to stay awake:confused:

I will have 5 heated blinds set up this year to add to the 3 there now.One doesn't want to get bored of looking at the same stumps and the deer may be near the other blinds as well.

Bobcat,
Don't be ashamed! I too watch tv (3x4 inch screen) with earphones when I get tired of looking at same stumps. I have a dove alarm system. They fly in the hundreds at the same time and I look up to see what's coming in. The birds always know.

Now thats different. Our portable sits on a trailer but lower to the ground and can be taken off and left there if needed
