I use #13 floating rapala most of the time.
But if I go minnow dunking like to use 2 1/4" to 2 3/4" minnows.

I use different sizes, depending on the time of year or weather conditions.
I do have a reputation for catching Walleye when no one else is.....Finesse Fishing :p with very small minnows, light line and the correct size/style and color of jig is my secret.
A lot of time fishing hot spots and watching how fish react to different baits and presentations has been put in as well.
But when the Walleye are on........BIG minnows, can't go wrong with a jig and a minnow. :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :D
My favorite over-all brand of minnows, "Big Zee's" ;)

Never the same answer for all times. If bite is on then larger tends to get larger fish but there are times only very small minnow on a very small jig will work. Sometimes minnows don't work at all.

Of course it all depends on the season but as for ice fishing.. i like to run a medium sized minnow cut in half and only use the heads. I have had the most luck on a swedish pimple with a 3 inch stinger hook with only bait on the stinger.

Old Indian trick, any type of minnow works well for walleyes using brighter neon jig colors or glow in the dark, depending on the clarity of the water.
Remember the deeper you fish means a heavier jig head and reasonable line.
Walleye's will bite beef heart cut into strips like a leech and when in doubt if you got no more minnows a deceased walleye eyeball on a jig will sometimes outfish a minnow any given day. Use words of wisdom wisely!:)

Last year I discovered a trick that works well, small jig on light line with a narrow piece of tullabee belly(scale it before you cut it off and small narrow strips). Great presentation and you don't loose your bait as fast because the skin is tough.

I have always had success with large roaches. If you dont get a walleye to bite the pike or bass will.
