Info needed

How does a group of guys from Ontario find land to hunt on in Saskatchewan. Is there much crown land and where can I get info on it. We would like to find some crown or private land/farm to hunt on. Dont want to pay big dollars for a guide service, but we will pay for land to lease.

Spend some time in the summer scouting and getting to know landowners. Hunt in the Northern Forest (Crown land) or in PFRA Pastures (Crown). Pick an area less hunted by Canadian Residents. Takes a lot of work, glad handing, and getting to know people to get access to prime areas.

Thanks for the reply, hard to do like you say when I'm in Ontario. Know any place to get info on maps for crown land and other areas.

Better check out the legality of what you have in mind, paying for access to hunt is illegal.

Zones 56 and up are 99% crown land with unlimited access to all hunters.

56 don't have many deer left after the last few years of winter kill,it wouldn't be my first choice

Try Manitoba, Alberta, we have no deer here just coyotes wolfs, and local hunters

Didn't know it was illegal to lease hunting land,its not in Ontario.

I would agree with moffdog32, with deer numbers down in the north on crown land and our herd being mismanaged i would try another province.
Alberta in the Iron River, bonneyville, La corey or Lac La Biche areas would be a good start. SK will be a has been province very soon....for deer. Don't waste your time,money or effort here. Our ministry does'nt care about the $$$$ our deer herds could bring in. They will continue to slaughter them until we have no resource left. We have people in charge with univesity degrees, but no common sense, they forget what the repercussions of a bad winter can do. They did it with our antelope and now are trying the same approach on our deer. Maybe when the revenue from canadian and non resident tags drops and outfitters are at their wits end, our ministry of environment will wake up. BUT DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH....

I have seen many good deer in the Lac La Biche area, and you may be able to find land to hunt there, but you will have to check it out

Just remember that in Alberta you need a guide or a hunter host to hunt big game. And you also need a win number. (Wildlife Identification Number) you can buy it at any license issuer.
