I received this photo gallery last January from a guy in Calgary who claimed it was a Newfie in Fort MacMurray that built this beauty. Go figure! Bit too fancy for my wife's liking. She suspects that I would never leave.
I can tell you this for a fact. If it was on the ice anywhere near Calgary, it would be vandalized, broken into and ruined inside of a week if left unattended. There was a thread last winter on the subject of huts on another forum and it seemed to me that even fishermen have no respect for private property rights, never mind the envious thugs with nothing better to do.
Riddle me this. What are the feelings about unattended ice huts, left unlocked and empty or locked and loaded, in Saskatchewan? Do a lot of anglers use this type of hut or do you favor portable shelters? I have seen a number of damaged sheds in my time but was never certain if the wind hadn't had it's way with them, setting my resolve on a portable ice cube. Dave

I would recommend the ice cube style, but get the double style if you want more than 2 people in the shack with you, its more troublesome to set up than the 2 or 4 man one but thay are definetly nice.we went that way after years of gruesome work getting the shed style shacks on and off the ice, my theory was less work more fun and more fish.
Awesome "shack" !!! Would'nt make the first night without being broken into, robbed and vandalized in the lakes around my area. Hard time keeping a padlock on my door even with nothing stored in the shack. Not just fishing shacks being vandalized and robbed but also tree stands, hunting blinds, cameras, etc. While the outdoor hunting and fishing world technology have changed for the better; many of those in it have not !!
