I am not sure why the Komatik is standard practice. A skidoo...would definatly be more comfortable. I think it's in relation to the remotness, and who in the community is going to lend their Ski-doo out.
I thought about that too and was going to post the question of why everybody doesn't get a snowmobile to ride until I saw your pictures of the sled with all those cans of gas. I'd say that's the answer, twice as many snowmobiles = twice as much gas. The logistics and cost of getting it up there must very difficult.

Also, if you've picked up any igloo making skills you're going to be the most popular dad on the block.

How was the meat? I mentioned before that a friend brought me an ox roast and it was great, just like antelope.

I don't know how much fuel more it would use, the one pulling us was workin' hard, but fuel is expensive up there. Heck a pack of smokes is 20 bucks! Pork chop and potatoes, 45 bucks!!

THe Muskox meat....was/is great!! We were able to fill one tub with meat, about 70 lbs and bring it home. Everyone asks what it tastes like....THey give me the uglies when I say Muskox! LOL, but really, it is not comparable to anything, it's unique, but great, likely my favorite wild meat now.

Just looking through the archives and found this old post. Awesome story telling Dean! Looks like you and Jason had the trip of a lifetime, congrats on a fine trophy. Do you have any video footage of the hunt posted?
You guys definitely must be diehard hunters to go on a trip way up there and brave the elements to spot and stalk a muskox with the bow. That sounds like a trip I would like to do someday.

I was just wondering if you got your bull officailly scored yet?

The show will air, Jason can correct me if I am wrong, but starting this Dec 28th.

There seems to be a bit of discrepancy on score here, being there are not very many used to scoring them, either way I sure don't care about the score, it has varied by over 10, yes 10 inches between scorers, so will submitt the lowest score he recieved when we had home checked for Sask Bowhunters, which is a sask record, B&C eligble and as far as we can find, the biggest taken with the bow on film, which is kinda cool.

Had him done soon after arriving home for Sask Bowhunters at 105 I think if I remember right, He was since scored by B&C fellow at 116", but we've never entered anything so no sense starting now.

Just got the call, the 3/4 pedistal mount is ready to pick up....Yikes.

Right on I'll be watching for your show. That is probably one of only a few Muskox taken for SBA I am sure, and he is a nice one at that.

When you say yikes you probably mean the cost right? LOL

I know what you mean, I have a full floor pedestal mount of my big moose that will be coming within a year. I'll have to have a bigger trophy room by then. LOL
