Opening Day Rainbows on Shirley Lake

Here's a pic of Saturday's results. Spent about 3 1/2 hours in a bit of wind. Largest two were about 7 lbs and five others 2 to 4 lbs. There were three other boats and everyone seemd to be getting a few. They fish were a little lethargic and only one came out of the water. Next week will be better.

Went Sunday for 2 1/2 hours, not a bite.

About 50 kms north of Big River, you take Hwy 924 north. Its at about km 42. Its well marked and good boat launch. Its a small lake 300 - 400 acres and always fishable regardless of weather.

Thanks Bigsky, I fish the La Ronge area alot but we don't get rainbows
that nice over that way, How is that road across from # 2 west to
Dore lake, Would it be good enough to pull a trailer and boat across.
By the way what kind of fishing is there in Dore Lake. I have fished
Lac La Plonge a few years ago did get some lakers but had some windy
weather when we where there only fished 2 part days very rough lake
when windy.

The cut across is usually better than the 924. I wouldn't want to pull 20 feet of 5th wheel and a boat tho, but its do-able. Dore is Jack and walleye. Very hot and cold, it never gives you too many good days in a row, but when its on, its on. It's also a big lake and weather plays a major role in where and when you fish. Late fall walleye fishing is unforgettable.
